A single block of travertine, cut square and drilled twice, and that is the whole design. The stone is left unpolished, so the open pores and mineral flecks that travertine forms with are still there to see and to feel, and no two blocks carry the same pattern of them.
The two wells take standard dinner tapers and hold them upright. Because the block is solid stone rather than a shell, it has real weight for its size, so it stays where it is put on a mantel, a shelf or a dining table, and a knocked elbow does not send it over.
It reads as one piece from every angle. Lit, the flames sit low and close together and throw light across the pitted face of the stone. Unlit, it works as a small piece of sculpture rather than as something waiting to be used.

No. Four felt pads are fitted to the underside, so it sits on oak, painted wood or stone without scratching.
The shape, the size and the finish will. The exact pattern of pores and the shade of the stone will not, because every block is cut from natural travertine. That variation is the reason for choosing stone rather than a cast copy of it.
